One of the most popular online adult communities for sex and swingers, Adult Friend Finder has reported that a data breach on its network has compromised the stored information of about 3.9 million users. This breach was due to a hack and was reported by a Channel 4 investigation.
The data which was compromised includes personal information, sexual preferences and orientation, email addresses, IP addresses of users and much more, though credit card information was not posted online by the hackers. This came into view when security researcher Bev Robb saw tones of data on a Darknet forum, and was quick to relate it to the information from Adult Friend Finder.
There is a way that this data can be misused and also used for marketing as well as blackmail, as Adult Friend Finder is generally used for seeking extramarital relationships and sexual contacts.
